It’s so sad, but it is true, Thai farmaers upnorth growing their “Sanpatong” glutineous rice recently revealed something that bringing us to tears. The selling price they get per Kilograme is still cheaper than a pack of instant noodles.

The famous Sanpatong glutineous rice is very high quality rice for cooking. Being so wellknown that many modifications brings a lot of new type of its kind. Originally it was a mutation from the “Luangyai 10” rice that was found in 1955. The reserach found that the ongoing type of rice being grown at the time was in fact contained some glutineous rice inside. After 7 years of developments from that time, the research has finally came up with a stable specy of rice that is strong against insects, and plant desease, durable for salty soil, high output , nice grain with compatibility to be grown in any circumstances of soil. 06 May 1962 the name Sanpatong was given to this glutineous rice. This rice is soft and can be served with any foods, even desert. The most significant thing is that its brown rice can be cooked as normal rice and found very unique delicate taste.
